WII

Hey Everyone! I was just playing WII last night and was thinking it was great new technology to blog about in Physical Education. The WII is a great work-out. The game includes a sports pack which includes boxing, bowling, tennis, golf and baseball. These games are all much like a virtual reality game. Playing these games will help kids stay in shape while having fun. The game is becoming much more affordable every few months. I think it's a great way to stay in shape and a lot of fun.

I couldnt agree with you more about Wii being a great way to get some physical activity in. Anyone who ever played Wii knows how much you actually move while play video games. Boxing especially gets your heart rate up because you are constintly moving your arms. Not only is it good for kids to play and get excercise but it is a great way to get excercise and increase you heart rate on a day where the weather is terrible and all you want to do is stay inside and get to excercise.

i agree stacy, i think wii is a great new way to interact the user with the game. it reminds me somewhat of dance dance revolution because you cant lose your focus. i have also heard that they are integrating wii into physical therapy programs for soliders that have been deployed from iraq. this is a fun way these men and women to recover and is more intresting than other forms of therapy. wii is also being used in nursing homes, believe it or not, for the elderly to stay active.

I do agree with you that it is a work out. But only in some cases. When you have a student like most of the physical education majors this is not a workout at all. Wii is not a workout for the person who is already fit and in good shape. But for the kid or person who sits around all day and plays video games yes this is a very good way to get them active. This is the first game like this on the market, i am excited to see what will come out in the years to come. Video games have came a long way since we were little.

My boyfriend's 5-year old nephew got one for Christmas. A 5 year old=$400 game. Hello!? Anyway.... this kid is better at technology than I am! He beat me in golf AND bowling. I swear I play exactly like he does, but apparenlty, I don't get enough practice. But I do agree, you are moving around a lot and staying alert while playing. Sure beats Playstation, while you sit on a coach and just move your fingers!

i agree, the wii really makes you move around when you are playing the sports game. boxing especially does because your constantly moving your hands and if you stand up you really get into it. Tennis is another good one because you have to stand up and swing to keep the volley going. I would love to have Wii in my phys ed class someday because i think the kids would love playing it.
