Hope everyone is enjoying this nice weather we have been having lately. I know I am trying to as much as possible but it seems Im swamped with work all at once. I guess thats what the end of the semester is all about, getting all of this work done! I know I still have some work to do on my video. I just keep telling myself summer is only a few weeks away!! :)

PENS SWEEP!
Hey Everyone! I just got done watching the Pens sweep the series. What great games the last four have been against the senators. I was a little upset that Gary Roberts has been out the last two games with a groin injury but it's great knowing that we can trust in the pens to pull through even when Captain Sidney Crosby is out. Way to go PENS! :)

Backpacking trip
This past weekend was suppose to be our backpacking trip. When we arrived on Saturday morning we found out that we had no vans to take to Minister Valley. We "hiked" back to the ski lodge through the woods behind the dorms. We then set up camp at the campground for the day. We did the tower ropes courses all day which I felt was a great expierence and a lot of fun. All in all i'm glad I didn't have to stay out in the freezing cold all night!!

Tonight at 8:00 the Men's volleyball team is hosting Grove City College in the Field House. Most students don't even know we have a Men's Volleyball team. It is a club sport and they are doing good this year. Your support at the game would be greatly appreciated by them. Hope to see everyone there! :)

Haiti Relief Effort
Hey Everyone! Last year our Men's Soccer team donated their old jersey's to an orphanage in Haiti. After seeing how bad the conditions are there Men's soccer Head coach Matt Thompson and men's soccer players began to organize a group of student athletes to begin a Haiti Relief Effort at SRU. I am a member of this group and we are trying to raise $25,000 to donate clothes, food, and sports equipment to the children of Haiti. On April 25-26 we are holding an all night Sport-a-thon. We are having all types of sports such as roller hockey, volleyball, soccer, basketball, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee etc. and in addition to the sports we are having other activities such as a dance party, rock climbing possibly battle of the bands etc. The event will run from 9:00pm on the 25th until noon on the 26th of April. I will have more information on the event as we plan it. Sign-ups will be held during common hour every tues-thurs. until the event. We will also be doing other activites to help raise money throughout April. Any help and support would be greatly appreciated. There is a group on facebook called the "Haiti Relieft Effort" that gives more information and also provides a great video of the orphange in Haiti and how bad the conditions are. The video is also on Youtube.com under the Haiti Relief Effort by SRU Forgotten Angels. There is also a website for the group the web address is www.sruforgottenangels.com
Hope to see everyone signing up for the events! Thanks!

Backpacking trip
Hey everyone! Hope you had a great spring break! I just came from outdoor pursuits and we are preparing for our backpacking trip in two weeks. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for the trip because I am not looking forward to it. I am missing our first volleyball tournament to go on the trip and I hate being cold and wet outside. Any advice would be great. Thanks :)

DVD H
Hey everyone! After staying with a friend's family for spring break I'm learning a lot about new technology. My friend's dad has a job to work with computers and help create new TV technology. At dinner last night we were talking about the new and upcoming DVD-H. This new hand held TV is able to pick up any TV station the provider allows. It is different from a streamimng TV station because it is immediate. I thought this was interesting but really who needs to have a TV with them at all times?

Webpage
I have been working on the webpage a lot this week trying to get it done. After reading Keith's Blog I think a lot of people are putting it off until last minute. BAD IDEA! I know after working on it off and on since we got the assignment It is A LOT of work to do but if you spread it out it shouldn't be to frustrating. Good Luck everyone we can do it! :)

WII
Hey Everyone! I was just playing WII last night and was thinking it was great new technology to blog about in Physical Education. The WII is a great work-out. The game includes a sports pack which includes boxing, bowling, tennis, golf and baseball. These games are all much like a virtual reality game. Playing these games will help kids stay in shape while having fun. The game is becoming much more affordable every few months. I think it's a great way to stay in shape and a lot of fun.

White out
Hey Everyone! I don't know if anyone checks their SRU New e-mail because I usually don't but today I did for once and I thought it was pretty cool that Fox is coming to film some footage for SRU's next commerical. They are coming to the Basketball games on Feb. 20th. The theme is "White Out" IUP. They are giving away a lot of prizes like T-shirts at the door for the first 25 students. I think it's a great Idea to go support both our girls and guys basketball teams along with having a chance to be on the next commerical for SRU!

MacBook Air
As I was watching TV I saw this add for the Macbook Air. It really caught my eye because on the commerical it can fit into a yellow envelope. According the apple store it is .76" in width which is extremly skinny and light weight. Even though it is light weight the laptop still has a full illuminated keyboard and a 13.3" screen! Depending on the amount of memory this laptop ranges from $1,400-$3,000. I think it is a really neat invention and would be fun to have one but at the same time I would be afraid to break it with it being so little!

Sync Radio
As I was watching television the other day I saw an interesting new car radio. According to syncmyride.com it is "a fully-integrated, voice activiated in-car communication and entertainment system for your mobile phone and digital music player." I think it is really neat that you can talk to you car system and it will play the music on your blue tooth phone or Ipod. Also according to Ford this device will cost around 400 dollars to install into you vechicle. Although that sounds a little expensive I think it would be a lot safer to have this device in all vechicles instead of trying to find a song while driving.

HD Camcorder
While browsing on the intertnet I came across a cool new camcorder. The Panasonic Lumix TZ5 is a new light weight camcorder that looks like a regular small digital camera. This camcorder can zoom up to 10x in 720p which makes the video look smooth while still getting closer. I also find it interesting that you can now record in HD when most homes still do not have HD television. I think this would be a lot easier to have around at holidays or games then having to carry around a larger camera which might not get as great of quality and this new camera.

Fitnessgram testing
After finding the journal articles and websites for this class I found fitnessgram testing as an interesting mix of technology and physical education. The software itself makes it easy for a student and the teacher to individually assess the student's level of fitness. The program includes charts and graphs along with writing the results in paragraph form. The cost is also fairly inexpensive and most of the time can be funded with a grant when the institiution puts the time in to find a grant. I also think the series of fitnessgram test are better then the traditional president's challenge testing and is easier to assess.
